poker_after_dark-show1.jpgDue to the exceptional success of NBC’S Poker After Dark Cash Game last week, the producers have decided that the public just cant get enough of high stakes poker, and therefore will continue airing the $200/400 Cash Game in the weeks to come.

The table will feature a new group of players which includes Patrik Antonius, Howard Lederer, Doyle Brunson, Gabe Kaplan, Eli Elezra and Dee Tiller. Each player has bought in for at least $100,000 and due to Patrick Antonoius’s and Elezra’a presence there should be plenty of gambling going down.

The game will begin airing on NBC Monday at 2:05 a.m. and will continue for five consecutive nights in the same time slot. A special “Director’s Cut” will air late night Saturday at 1:00 a.m. right after Saturday Night Live. That show will feature Leeann Tweeden with a behind-the-scenes look at the week with highlights and insightful player interviews.

Phil Ivey had another very good day on full tilt poker at the start of this month, in which he collected approx $1 Mil in a very short period of time. He played a variety of four different games and his winnings were spread out amongst all of them, with the largest proportion coming from No Limit Hold Em in which he pocketed around $499K in only a single session. During that session Ivey won his largest pot ever online when his pair of aces held up against a pair of Kings to take down a $439K Cash pot, Take a Look at how the hand was played out. Overall for the month of September Ivey made an absolute killing off Full Tilt Poker and played some very solid poker, after putting in over 600 hours and playing 29827 Hands, he ended up winning over $2.2 Million for the month and was the biggest winner on the site.

News has quickly spread over the internet that US Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ) has introduced S 3616, the Internet Skill Game Licensing and Control Act. The bill, according to its text, “provides for the licensing of Internet skill game facilities.” It provides for a full regulatory framework for skill games, and is an important piece of legislation which is the first ever to be introduced in the Senate. The bill seeks to license Internet Poker Sites and other skill-based online gaming sites. If passed, this bill would provide what the poker community has been seeking ever since the passage in 2006 of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act – clear language that Internet poker is permitted in the United States and that U.S. financial institutions may conduct business with those sites.

Ultimately, both the House and the Senate will have to agree to this legislation before the end of this legislative session on Jan. 3, 2009, for it to become law. The Poker Players Alliance is throwing its full weight behind Senator Robert Menendez and clearly intends to provide its support to see that the law does get passed.

david_benyamine1.jpgWhen you’re playing High Stakes Poker, etiquette, integrity and respectfulness should naturally became a major factor of your game when at the poker table, as huge amounts of cash are changing hands and individuals should conduct themselves appropriately, whether they are playing online or at live tables. Well it looks like all that has gone out the window and it is quite apparent that Jay “pr1nnyraid” Rosenkrantz and David Benyamine are at war and are playing for much more than just the cash on the table. The two have exchanged a barrage of words, apparently due to Benyamine cleaning him out and then splitting to the Railheaven table to play with the regular Full Tilt Pros , a maneuver which Rosenkrantz didn’t take too kindly to. Rosenkrantz went on to mention that he would never “quit” Benyamine at heads-up because it was too profitable.

Benyamine’s girlfriend, Erica Schoenberg, took a shot at Rosenkrantz on a blog calling him an arrogant little kid whose only picked up the game due to the overly hyped up phase poker is going through. Rosencrantz fired right back the very same day on his own blog saying he is willing to discuss cash game etiquette with her at any time and in the process challenged Benyamine to heads up Showdown.

“Erica seems to have a lot of faith in DB and his ability to destroy my bankroll. I know that he’s not that good at multi-tabling so I hereby challenge David to a match: 2 tables of 200-400 or 300-600 HU NL.”

The game ended up going down and Rosenkrantz got the better of Benyamine in the heads up showdown, here’s a look at how the deciding hand was played out:
